Week 2 (07/09/2022)

Exercise 1 -  Case Study

Exercise 2 - Box Making

We were to select 2 loose items (maximum 300mm) and design a packaging for it. I've think of the egg packaging, this is because the egg packaging we sees in the market is always for 10 eggs and it has been very inconvenience for single persons who's living alone or people who only needs to buy a few eggs. Besides, that, I want to design an egg packaging where people can have a glance of the eggs conditions before they buy them. For my second idea, I will choose a Loreal brand lipstick to redesign its packaging as the original packaging look a little bit dull for me.

After proposing my idea to Mr Shamsul, he agreed with my idea and I can continue to work on it. I then started to do a mock-up for the packaging design to see how it will look like in the actual size.

After doing the mock-up, I've thought that this idea can be worked on as the packaging design can hold the eggs safely without them dropping out and most importantly, the eggs are clear to be seen from the outside. Then, I started to measure the actual lengths and sizes of the packaging.

FEEDBACK

Mr Shamsul said my idea is good to go. Try doing half dozen of eggs (6 eggs per packaging) instead of 4 eggs per packaging. Then, do a mock-up first to see how it look before doing the final product. Choose the material wisely and think of how the characteristics of the material to choose a suitable one for the packaging.
