INSTRUCTIONS

 

Project 1: Instructable Infographic Poster

We are required to design an infographic poster for one recipe selected from the Pasta Grannies. After watching some of the videos, I chose Elizabeth's Fileja Pasta as the Fileja Pasta she made looks so delicious.

To start this project, I jotted down the recipe from watching the video and rewatch the video for many times to get more familiar with the recipe.

My art style would be cartoonized painting with bright colour colour scheme. At first, I used Adobe Photoshop to draw the outline and paint the ingredients.

Then, for some parts I illustrated them in Adobe Illustrator so that I could animate them for Project 2 later. I arranged them in different layer and try to achieve all the mixing and stirring scenes.

Final Project 1: Instructable Infographics Poster

Project 2 Part 2: Animated Infographics

For Project 2, we have to create an animation using the assets from our infographic poster from Project 1. We were required to create a motion graphic from the chosen Pasta Grannies recipe.

After creating all the animations, I added sound effects to the boiling, stirring, slicing scenes etc. to make the entire video more interesting. 

Disclaimer: This recipe has slightly longer steps compare to the other as it contains the steps of making their own pepper paste. Thus, the animated infographic is more than the required 50seconds.

Practical

WEEK 2: KINETIC TYPOGRAPHY

During our practical class, we learned how to create text animations. Then, we were give a task to create a lyric video using After Effects. We had discussions on song selections and chose the song with the highest vote.

We then split the song lyrics into several parts and start working on our text animations.

For exercise 4, we were to create a motion graphic chart. The chart assigned to me was donut chart.

REFLECTIONS

Project 1 and 2 were absolutely time consuming but I had fun completing both of them. I am proud of myself for actually achieving the outcome I wanted and I really enjoyed watching the final video. As for exercise 3 and 4, they were something new to me. I learned some new skills completing the exercises and also realised that there are still many new skills and tools for me to learn in Adobe After Effects.
